I didn’t know I had never had real southern fried chicken until I went to Charleston, South Carolina.
The waitress suggested that I order anything on the menu that included fried chicken.
15 minutes later out came my hot plate of chicken and waffles. I took a big bite that included the soft and sweet waffle with the crispy fried chicken.
YUM.
That rich salty and sweet bite felt like a warm hug. I’m still thinking about that first bite.
I don’t know what they put on that chicken to make it taste so perfect. I have never had a piece of chicken like this.
Sadly, I don’t know of a place in Ohio that makes fried chicken like this. But it’ probably for the best — otherwise, I’d eat chicken and waffles every day.
