We needed a cup of coffee before we hit the road out of Indianapolis. Google Maps took us to a cute spot in an old bottle works factory building – renovated and revamped into a shopping center.

A sign on the counter pointed out the vintage rack originally intended for timecards. You could buy a coffee in advance for someone who fits the description of your choice. The notes left a latte for someone going through a breakup and a large coffee for someone who recently lost a pet, among others.

Strangers extending a hand to fellow struggling strangers. You never know what anyone else is going through. I pictured someone walking through the door, anticipating a long day ahead, and spotting a thank you note from a stranger, who can make their day just a little bit easier.
