Garnette Cadogan, author of the essay “Walking While Black” and editor-at-large of Nonstop Metropolis: A New York City Atlas (co-edited by Rebecca Solnit and Joshua Jelly-Schapiro, University of California Press, 2016), talks to the Denison University community more expansively about those subjects. He also talks about the inspiration he takes from Whitman, and how walking allows him to “map” his surroundings in different ways.
