Overdose Awareness Day Rally
August 29 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
On June 8, 2021, Governor Mike DeWine signed a bill which recognizes Aug. 31 as “Ohio Overdose Awareness Day.” We will host our 10th Annual Overdose Awareness Day Rally on August 29, 2024, at Canal Market, Newark OH 43055.
Overdose touches people and communities in many ways. Many of our friends and families in Newark, Ohio have been impacted by the addiction epidemic. The theme for 2024, “Together we can” highlighting the power of our community when we all work together. No one should stand alone in our fight to end overdose.
While every individual action matters, coming together as an international community creates a powerful collective action. One that moves us with greater speed toward our shared goal of preventing and ending all overdoses.
For people who use drugs and those who do not. For heartbroken friends and family members of lost loved ones. For activists who fight for sorely needed policy reform. For healthcare and harm reduction workers. For tireless advocates. Overdose can affect anyone, and we encourage you to remember the tenacity of our community. Lean into the power that we can have when we work together. Our collective voices are stronger, louder, and the most impactful when brought together. Let us remember, together, we can end overdose.

This year on August 29, let us acknowledge and support the people in our communities who go unrecognized by raising awareness of the hidden impacts of overdose, promoting education of overdose response, and reaching out to politicians to make lasting, lifesaving policy changes.
