It’s customary for journalism outlets to promote lists highlighting young, up-and-coming individuals in our community.
The Reporting Project will be doing something slightly different. We are launching a 10-over-60 feature that we hope to repeat in the years to come. We want to highlight those who offer our community services that include a life full of wisdom, experience, disappointment and perseverance. Our newsroom wants to bring attention to those everyday heroes of kindness and hard work who quietly give to improve the quality of life in Licking County.
Specifically, we are collecting the stories of Licking Countians in their second, third and fourth acts — people who have spent a lifetime helping others, giving back to their community and carrying the torch for Licking County’s seniors.
To that end, The Reporting Project is seeking nominations for the most dedicated, hardworking individuals over the age of 60 in our communities. They might serve as a mayor, run a youth basketball team, build homes for charity or volunteer to help lead their village, town or township through hardships and challenges. They also could be the people who pour your coffee or put a smile on your face with small acts of kindness that enrich the lives of those around them.
A committee from The Reporting Project will help select the honorees from the nominations for TRP’s first “10 over 60” list.
All nominations must be submitted by Tuesday, Dec. 31 via Google form.
If you have any questions about making a nomination or the process, please reach out to TRP Managing Editor Julia Lerner (lernerj@denison.edu).
