In 2025, The Reporting Project launched the 10-over-60 initiative, a special project highlighting those who offer our community services that include a life full of wisdom, experience, disappointment and perseverance. Our newsroom wanted to bring attention to those everyday heroes of kindness and hard work who quietly give to improve the quality of life in Licking County.
And in 2025, we highlighted 11 individuals — people YOU nominated — from across Licking County who continue to make our community stronger, kinder, happier, healthier and safer.
We’d like to do it again, and once again, we need your help.
Specifically, we are collecting the stories of Licking Countians in their second, third and fourth acts — people who have spent a lifetime helping others, giving back to their community and carrying the torch for Licking County’s seniors.
To that end, The Reporting Project is seeking nominations for the most dedicated, hardworking individuals over the age of 60 in our communities. They might run a youth basketball team, build homes for charity or volunteer to help lead their village, town or township through hardships and challenges. They also could be the people who pour your coffee or put a smile on your face with small acts of kindness that enrich the lives of those around them.
A committee from The Reporting Project will help select the honorees from the nominations for TRP’s first “10 over 60” list.
All nominations must be submitted by Friday, Feb. 13 via Google form.
If you have any questions about making a nomination or the process, please reach out to TRP Managing Editor Julia Lerner (lernerj@denison.edu).
