Nancy Cook, the artist in residence at the Bryn Du Mansion, reads a few short historical fiction stories in the Old Academy Building. Her stories revolve around the abolitionist movement, the Civil War and the life of John Brown. Central Ohio plays an important part in her ongoing project because of its history with the anti-slavery movement. Credit: Maddie Luebkert

Visual Artist Eric K. Mize standing in front of a piece from his collection Tasting Notes at the Front Porch Guild Gallery. Tasting Notes is about how wine can bring people together through shared experience. The piece behind Mize, silky tannins frame sun-ripened fruit, is his favorite because of the harmony in the piece. Also, the figure in the piece is turned away from the viewer, making it easier for the viewer to focus on how the piece makes them feel instead of who the person in the painting is according to Mize.
