‘I Exist Project’

The Department of Music presents the Contemporary Sounds Concert Series, featuring guest artist Nick May, saxophone, and Alex Li, piano, in collaboration with visual artist, Chris Faur, in a performance of combined visuals and music featuring LGBTQIA+ composers from Mays “I Exist Project.”

The “I Exist Project” amplifies the richness and diversity of queer life, culture, and artistry by partnering with a broad spectrum of talented queer composers and performers. The mission is to inspire the creation and promotion of innovative queer repertoire that celebrates the unique experiences and voices within the community, fostering greater understanding, connection, and visibility forDenison’s annual Contemporary Sounds Concert Series features an immersive concert experience of eclectic music and visual artistry, curated to explore the storytelling and experiences of contemporary composers and performers. Each concert showcases the emerging talents in music that are creating impactful programs to be enjoyed by all audiences. Directed by Zachery S. Meier, with extended support from Denison’s Queer Studies and Outlook Student Organization.
