Bright Spot: James and John

Bright Spots are the perfect cup of coffee in the morning, your favorite song on the radio, a cute dog in the park, and the beautiful moments in our everyday lives.

My great-nephew James, born on March 15 and his grandfather (my brother) John.

John drove 456.9 miles from Corona, California to Petaluma, California to meet him.

There is a sweetness to this picture he sent me — a newborn baby with open eyes looking at his grandfather.

I’m sure John was telling him an important family story, one of many for little James to hear. But it looked like they were both enjoying the moment and the conversation.

Nancy Berg, the executive assistant to the president at Denison University, submitted this Bright Spot.
