Looking for an early dose of Christmas spirit? It will be on full display from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, in historic downtown Newark, as the community hosts the 21st annual Sights and Sounds of Christmas event. Proceeds will benefit the Licking County Food Pantry Network

The guided, musical walking tour will begin with a performance at Second Presbyterian Church at 42 E. Church St. From there, attendees will embark on a tour with stops at six other historic downtown churches and the Licking County Courthouse. The tour is led by a “lamplighter” dressed in a holiday costume, and each stop along the tour will feature a musical performance.

Those interested in attending the Sights and Sounds of Christmas can purchase a $5 ticket at many Newark locations, including the Explore Licking County office at 5 S. Third St., the Licking County Chamber of Commerce at 50 W. Locust St., and any of the participating Newark churches: First United Methodist, First Presbyterian, Second Presbyterian, St. Paul’s Lutheran, St. Francis de Sales Catholic, Trinity AME and Trinity Episcopal. Children under age 12 get in free.

Tickets also will be available on the night of the tour at Second Presbyterian Church, where the tour will begin.
