Village Council is the legislative body that creates laws, policies, and budgets for the Village of Alexandria by passing ordinances and resolutions to address the needs of our community. The council oversees the Village’s operations and public employees, approves the annual budget and appropriations and also approves contracts on behalf of the village. Village Council sets tax rates for the village.
Alexandria’s governing body is a non-partisan six-member council made up of community residents who have been elected to serve or, in the case of a mid-term vacancy, appointed to their position. The Village of Alexandria operates under a mayor-council form of government.
Village Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Village Offices
