More than 6,500 Pelotonia riders took off from downtown Columbus early on Saturday morning, Aug. 3, with one goal: Raise millions of dollars to fund research to end cancer.
OK, some of the riders had secondary goals, including the joy of riding through the bucolic countryside in Licking County. Riders had their choice of routes and number of miles they traveled, and those who picked the longer routes passed through Licking County on back roads and along city streets.
During past years, many riders have commented about how much they appreciate the beauty of the place and the good cheer they received from so many who lined the roadways to lift their spirits and inspire them to keep going.
And Licking County turned out for them in a big way on Saturday.
